CANADA DAY EVENTS - CALGARY

 Bar U Ranch
Dominion Day brunch runs 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and features a salute to the cowboy with music, storytelling and poetry from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Pony rides, horse and roping demonstrations, puppet shows and rope-making will be offered and the singing of O Canada will commence at noon. The Bar U Ranch is located 13 kilometres south of Longview on Highway 22.

 Canada Kicks 2002
is slated to be a day long event celebrating Canada Day. The event runs at Shaw Millenium Park on July 1 from 10a.m. to 10p.m. Featured acts include 54-40, Bif Naked, Field Day, Flu, The Long Run, The Dudes, XL Bird Suit, The Cranston Foundation, Sam Sara, War Party and Parkers Live. There will be 3 on 3 Basketball, Beach VolleyBall, Beer Gardens and Food Kiosks on-going during the event.
Tickets are $8 at the Gate.

 Cochrane
Theme centres around Queen Elizabeth’s Golden Jubilee, complete with a 21-gun salute by the 9th Battalion Rifles. Youth parade, no commercial floats or entries
The parade is set to begin at 11 a.m.
From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., local artists, sculptors and crafters will adorn downtown businesses with their masterpieces, and maps will be available.
From 11 a.m. to noon Straus will entertain the crowd with live jazz and blues music, to be followed by dance entertainment and a flag raising ceremony at 1 p.m.
The 9th Battalion Rifles will be offering a 21-gun salute in honour of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee.
Andean music from Equador, Cochrane fast-gun demonstrations straight from the Old West, and the Canada Day Family Concert. Samantha Edwards, The Carsons, Gil Grand and Diane Chase will all be staging a musical Canada Day finale at Mitford Park from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m
Adult (12 and up) tickets will sell at $12 each, while children under 12 years old get in free.

 Enmax Park for STARS Canada Day fireworks
The Enmax parking lot at 2808 Spiller Rd. S.E. will be open from 6 to 11 p.m. at $2 per car to view the fireworks. The lot will be operated by Enmax employees and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 245, whose members are donating their time. All proceeds will go to STARS air ambulance. 
 
 Foothills P.A.R.T.Y. Run 
Foothills P.A.R.T.Y. Run is slated to kickoff July 1st at Edworthy Park.

 Fort Calgary Historic Park
plans to celebrate the diversity of cultures that helped found Canada with an outdoor day of family fun. The first 500 people to arrive after 9 a.m. will be treated to a pancake breakfast. There will be a flag-raising ceremony at 9:30 a.m., followed by games, face painting and children's entertainers. The Global Stage will feature 18 performances by such artists as the Sassenach Highland Dancers, the Calgary Metis Dancers, the RCMP K-9 Show, the U of C pipe band and Wagonstage Children's Theatre. At 2 p.m., there will be an assembly and inspection at the fort and the Taste of Nations Food Fair will be open all day.
The festivities run 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 Heritage Park
It may be Canada's 135th birthday, but it's also Heritage Park's 38th. Come down for a slice of birthday cake and family games. The First Nations Dancers and the 65th Mount Royal Rifles will be performing in the Settlement Area. The day ends with a performance by country legend Ian Tyson at 6 p.m. The Tyson concert is free with admission.

 International Avenue Festival - Parade
Dominion Day Parade: Forest Lawn is reviving a nearly 50-year-old tradition with the Dominion Day Parade in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the incorporation of the Town of Forest Lawn. The parade will start at 11 a.m. at 52nd Street and 17th Avenue S.E. and proceed to 3111 17th Ave. S.E., where there will be a festival featuring a car show and shine, pony rides, a petting zoo, craft and information tables, a flea market and more until 4 p.m.

 Prince's Island Park 
Local bands such as the Dino Martinis, Tim Tamashiro and the Mocking Shadows will be performing on three stages, along with children's entertainers and face painters wandering the grounds in an event geared for the entire family. It runs all afternoon.
All the entertainment is FREE!.
